Nate Otto
Hot Purple Energy
As a General Contractor dedicated to sustainable building Nate Otto is credited for implementing material and recycling policies as far back as 1992 that reduced typical construction job site waste by 80%. Having Palm Springs roots going back generations, Mr. Otto moved to the desert with his wife in 2000 to raise a family. Included in the long list of custom homes Mr. Otto’s construction company worked on in the desert is the first LEED certified home with celebrated architect Willian Krisel, as well as the high efficiency / low impact Blu Sky Homes in Pioneertown. The move from General Contracting to Founding Hot Purple Energy was one based on personal desire and market need. Mr. Otto felt the Coachella Valley needed a company that was not solely focused on selling solar panels, but rather was focused on Energy and the holistic measures available to reduce consumption while aesthetically implementing solar panel production. In the nine years at the helm of HPE, Mr. Otto and HPE have raised the bar in the Coachella Valley on what is an acceptable solar installation, as well as forcing a more honest discussion about lowering consumption as part of a balanced approach to energy. In addition to volunteering for countless energy education seminars and community and school programs, Mr. Otto served on the Palm Springs Sustainably Commission from 2014 – 2017. Mr. Otto and Hot Purple Energy continue to be the leader in alternative energy implementation and community outreach and education.
