Hon. Mark Landman
City of Cotati
Mark Landman began his career as one of the first ten fire paramedics in Marin County in 1978, part of what was then a revolutionary improvement in public service provision. Thirty-six years later, as Mayor of the City of Cotati, he helped bring forward an even more revolutionary improvement in public service provision when the Cotati City Council was the first to unanimously support community choice energy (CCE) in Sonoma County.
Councilmember Mark Landman was appointed to City Council in November 2009 and elected to a full four-year term in 2010. He was re-elected in 2014 for a second four-year term.
Mark served on the Water Advisory Committee from 2009 to 2013, where he worked to help keep customer water rates from rising and to bring beneficial groundwater recharge projects to Cotati's Laguna De Santa Rosa headwaters. Mark previously has also served as Chamber of Commerce Liaison, Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) representative, ABAG Regional Planning Committee member, and as a founding board member of the Cotati Arts Project.
Since 2013, Mark's greatest focus has been the growth and support of CCE in Sonoma County, through Sonoma Clean Power. Mark is a founding member of the Sonoma Clean Power Authority Board of Directors, where he has served as Vice-Chair and Chair. He also serves as Chair for the Sonoma County Mayors’ and Councilmembers' Legislative Committee, Chair of the Russian River Watershed Association, as a director on the Sonoma County Transit Authority and the Regional Climate Protection Authority, as well as a commissioner on the Sonoma LAFCo.
